Agricultural Stress Index in Iraq - January 2017

About this Project

The Agricultural Stress Index (ASI) for Iraq in January 2017 indicated conditions of less dryness in general and in particular, it still showed relatively less moist conditions compared to December 2016.

In December last year there was rain throughout the three dekads, while much rain in January occurred only during the last dekad without any signicant amounts seen in the other two dekads. The analyses further showed that the moist and vegetation conditions improved in January 2015 and much better than January 2017, especially in Dohuk, Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Kirkuk and Ninewa governorates, due to consistent rainfall experienced throughout the dekads during that period.
