Agricultural Stress Index in Jordan - October 2016

About this Project

Based on the Jordan Meteorological department, most of the agricultural areas did not exceed 1% (others 2%-4%) of the expected cumulative rainfall as of 2nd of November 2016. At the moment, this lack of rainfall will have a minimal effect on the crop, but good effective rainfall is needed Nov/Dec to ensure planting can occur on time. No planting of winter crops (barley, lentils, beans and wheat) occurred during October except for a few areas that rely on irrigation. Some plant- ing of barley started during the last third of October, in the northern areas around Mafraq.
