About this Project

The effects of temperature variations as a result of increased atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration - due either to general warming or natural flux - have been shown to directly contribute to an offset in season duration and, subsequently, crop yield and livestock production.

Understanding historical variability in temperature allows experts to develop simulated models to predict the quantitative effects that these variations will have on the food production systems in a given region. This quantitative analysis allows for an accurate assessment of estimated funding requirements for the food security programs to ensure the affected populations are prepared for approaching shortages and provided with the necessary aid.
