About this Project

Similar to temperature variations, temporal variability of rainfall has direct impacts on the yield of rain-fed crops as well as the health and sustainability of local livestock populations. Due to the existing food shortages experienced by this area, the prolongation of the current drought in Syria could cripple crop and animal populations in the coming years without the constant improvement of targeted food security programs. By conducting an analysis on historical mean rainfall data, forecasted figures can be extrapolated, allowing governments and agencies to make informed decisions about where to provide subsidized commodities, deliver food parcels or provide humanitarian assistance.
